The Rusted Waste
The Rusted Waste (also known simply as the Waste) takes up the entirety of the northern half of Antinaea. It was given its name by its inhabitants, the Nashari in their language, and translated to Common. The name comes from the sand, which has large patches of reddish brown, but also because the desert (and especially the mountains near the center) are abundant in iron. The rare rain rusts the exposed iron, and the rust gets blown away and mixes with the sand. Over hundreds of years, places with much iron become colored.
